About
Lorenzo Foddai, born and based in Rome, is a photographer specializing in photojournalism. Growing up in the metropolitan context of the Eternal City, he initially pursued a technical-scientific education, which over time became increasingly restrictive, making room for a creative longing that found expression through the fascinating art of photography. In recent years, he has dedicated himself entirely to this craft.
Lorenzo has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout Italy, including "FOTOGRAFIA E'…" at the headquarters of the Social Cooperative for Medical Psychotherapy in Rome (June 2019), "OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOWS – Life in the Time of the Corona Virus" curated by the Art Space Cultural Association in Milan (April 2021), "INNER OUTLOOK" curated by the BOOM Image Studio Photographic Agency in Milan (May 2021), "FREEDOM" curated by the "Roma Fotografia" Photographic Association at Palazzo Merulana in Rome (July 2021), and "URBAN 2021" as part of the Trieste Photo Days International Photography Festival in Trieste (October 2021). He has also held solo exhibitions in Rome, such as "LET’S FLY" at the Fondazione Santa Lucia (November 2022) and at the Teatro di Documenti as part of the Puro Teatro festival, promoted by the Municipality of Rome (December 2022).

Additionally, Lorenzo has contributed to various individual and collective publications, including "KLOTHO" as an Artist's Notebook, produced at the Vittor Pisani Art Studio by Sara Bernabucci in Rome (2020), and a collective photographic fanzine titled "Sembravano Scintille" in the heart of S. Lorenzo, curated by Filippo Trojano (Rome, 2021).
In recent years, his work has focused exclusively on photojournalism in Italy and abroad. The main outcomes of this work include the project "LES CIUDADES DE D10S", which explores the almost religious passion shared by cities like Naples and Buenos Aires for Diego Armando Maradona, and "LET’S FLY", which represents a journey into the wonder of Paralympic sports and the possibility of redemption it offers to athletes with various disabilities.
Today, Lorenzo is always in search of human stories to tell through his unique perspective and artistic sensitivity. He recognizes that within human experiences, there is always an emotional moment or movement in history that only images can convey.
Recently, he has collaborated with the weekly magazine LEFT, and the LES CIUDADES DES D10S reportage was published in the Italian magazine L’Espresso on November 17, 2023.
In addition, the project "FOOTBALL'S VIBES" has been selected for the final shortlist of the prestigious international contest SONY PHOTOGRAPHIC AWARD 2024.
